The beautiful story of The River started when believers started gathering after WWII. They incorporated in 1952 as Christ Lutheran American Church of Waco as an ALC congregation and built a building on MacArthur Drive. There was many years of faithful service and worship at this location. Sadly, after Christmas in 2020, the congrgation closed its doors for the final time. The remaining members wished that there was still ministry pursued in Waco, and that is where The River was formed. We are members of LCMC (Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ). We will be starting out meeting in various locations in Waco, with the goal of finding a home for our congregation in the future.
We’re free in Christ
We’re accountable to one another
We’re rooted in the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions
We’re all working together to fulfill Christ's Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations
